What Does the Candle Wax Calculator do?

This calculator is for people who are making candles from scratch and want to get the approximate amount of wax and fragrance they will need to create a batch of candles.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Start by entering your desired number of finished units in the quantity field.

  2. Then enter the size of the candle in the candle size field as well as choosing the appropriate unit of measurement from the dropdown menu.

  3. Enter your desired fragrance load percentage in the fragrance load field. Do not add the percent sign, only enter the number itself.

  4. Optionally, you can alter the wax gravity but by default it is set to .86 as that is the most common value.

Understanding Your Results

You will get two different lines of results after you hit calculate. You get the total amount of wax needed for your project and then the total amount of fragrance needed.

These are very straightforward and easy to understand. From here you can get back to the drawing board and prepare your batches.

Candle Wax - Frequently Asked Questions

While this calculator will give you a very good idea as to how much of your components you will need, it is not perfect. There are certain factors that we cannot incorporate that may throw off your batch's progress. We recommend trying a smaller batch with our numbers to determine if it is right for your projects.

This number signifies how much of the blend is your fragrance. This number is commonly around 5-6& for candles but can vary depending on quality, brand, scent, and other factors.
