Cents per minute is a way to measure pay. It is not as commonly used compared to dollars per hour, but for certain jobs it can be the preferred breakdown of pay. It measures the number of cents you get per minute of working.

How to Calculate Cents Per Minute

When you are going to calculate the cents per minute, you need to have two things. The total pay and the total amount of time worked.

You will then use that information in this formula: CPM = (TE * 100) / TM

  • CPM represents cost per minute.
  • TE represents total earned.
  • TM represents total minutes worked.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the total amount earned in the first field.

  2. Then enter the amount of hours worked, if the time of work did not surpass an hour still enter a zero in the hours field.

  3. Then you can enter the amount of minutes worked, this number needs to be between 0 and 59.

  4. Then hit calculate and get your results in a second.

Understanding Your Results

You will get two different lines of results. Your cents per minute, which is shown in a simple number. That is how many cents you will earn per minute, you will have to put it into proper dollar format.

Then we also included the equivalent dollars per hour that you received. We did this because often jobs will not surpass an hour, but you would want to know how many dollars per hour you got paid essentially.

An Example of Cents Per Minute Calculation

George got paid $75 for a task that took him 1 hour and 20 minutes. To find his cents per minute, we do the following: CPM = (75 * 100) / 80 to get a CPM of 93.75.

So every minute that George worked he got paid 93.75 cents, or just under a dollar. This was equivalent to getting paid $56.25 and hour!
