Let's say the ammo we are using have a mass of 150 grains and with our current set up is capable of having a velocity of 980 feet per second. We can use this tool to find its velocity, first we would enter 150 into the bullet mass field and change the unit to be grains. Then we would enter 980 into the bullet velocity field and leave the unit as feet per second.
We can now hit calculate to get our bullet energy of 433.62 joules. If we need this answer in foot-pounds we can choose that unit from the dropdown and we will automatically have our answer calculated to be 319.82 foot-pounds.
