Our dog size calculator is intended to be used by those who want an idea of how big their puppy may grow to be. This tool is by no means going to be definitive, we use a formula that will give you an estimate of how large it will grow to be but may be very far off at the end of the day. Let's say you got a new German Shepherd puppy. He is 8 weeks old and already 16 pounds. Using this formula: Adult Dog Weight = 16 * (52 / 8), we get the answer of 104 lbs.
There is no way to tell for sure how big your dog will be. This depends on many factors with the main being your dog's breed. If you have a breed that is small typically, your dog will likely fall in line. Then other factors that can affect a dog's growth is their diet, their level of exercise, overall health and wellness, and their lineage.
Over the years there are some basic ways to gauge how big your dog will grow up to be. One being how large their paws are as a puppy. If they have very large paws they will slowly grow into them, if their paws are not that large you know they have not too much growing to do. Aside from that, looking at the puppy's parents was the next best way to gauge how large they will grow to be. With our dog size calculator, you can take out some of the guess work and estimate their adult size based on their current size.
